La sociedad global y los desafíos para las ciencias sociales

The social vulnerability appears as an outstanding characteristic of this late stage of the Modernism. Since the beginning, the modern society has expressed the establishment of new forms of living together based on the premises and utopias of an unlimited social progress. In the current stage, the modern society shows a disappearance of legitimating speeches and reveals contradictions involved since its origin that lead to an increasing process of disillusion and social exclusion. The own dynamics of the development has generated opposite results. The risk factors are now more present than in the previous societies. Furthermore, these risk factors have virtually global effects and consequences. In this article, the author deals in some aspects of the so called “modernity crisis” and emphasizes the social vulnerable conditions resulting from the operational mechanisms of current society. He also covers some of the current challenges of the Social Sciences.
